The most advanced free online audio recorder. Record your voice, music or any audio directly in your browser. Get live waveform visualization, volume meter, frequency spectrum, playback controls and instant download as MP3 or WAV. No software download, no sign-up, no registration required. Works on any device with a microphone.
Browser-based audio recording with no download, no sign-up and no registration required.
Click Start Recording and allow microphone access when prompted by your browser. Your browser uses the Web Audio API to capture audio directly from your microphone. No data is sent to any server. All processing happens locally in your browser.
Select your preferred microphone from the dropdown if multiple devices are connected. Choose your audio format (WebM, OGG or MP4), enable or disable noise suppression for cleaner voice recording, and toggle echo cancellation for recording in rooms with reflective surfaces.
The live waveform canvas updates in real time as you speak or record. The volume meter shows current input level in dB and the peak frequency meter shows the dominant frequency of your audio. The timer tracks recording duration automatically to the second.
Press Stop to end the recording. The playback waveform shows the recorded audio visually. Press Play Last to immediately hear your recording in the built-in audio player. Saved clips appear in the Saved Recordings list below the studio panel.
The real-time frequency spectrum analyzer shows low, mid and high frequency energy as colored bars while you record. This helps identify background noise frequencies, check microphone frequency response and confirm that your voice is being captured clearly across its full range.
Press Download to save your recording directly to your device. Files are named with the date and time automatically. All clips in the Saved Recordings list have individual play and download buttons so you can manage multiple takes without losing any recording.
More features than any other free online audio recorder tool. No registration required.
The recording canvas draws a live scrolling waveform showing the amplitude of your audio as it is captured. Every spike and dip corresponds to real sound pressure changes. This lets you see whether your microphone is picking up your voice, background noise, plosives from breathing on the microphone, or clipping from audio that is too loud for the input gain.
The real-time spectrum analyzer uses the Web Audio API AnalyserNode to split the audio into frequency bands and display the energy in each band as a bar chart. Low frequencies from 20Hz to 500Hz are shown in blue and green. Mid frequencies from 500Hz to 4kHz (the most important range for voice) are shown in green and yellow. High frequencies from 4kHz to 20kHz are shown in orange. Peak frequencies appear in red.
Record multiple takes in a single session without losing any previous recordings. Each recording is saved to the Saved Recordings list with its name, duration and file size. Individual play and download buttons are available for every clip. The Clear All button removes all recordings from the session when you are finished. Clips are stored in browser memory and are not uploaded anywhere.
The recorder supports browser-level noise suppression and echo cancellation through the Web Audio API MediaTrackConstraints. Noise suppression removes constant background noise like fan hum, air conditioning and computer noise from your recording. Echo cancellation removes the reflection of speakers back into the microphone which is essential for voice calls or recording in rooms with hard reflective surfaces.
Download your recordings as WebM audio (default, smallest file size), OGG Vorbis (open format, excellent quality), or MP4/AAC (best compatibility with Apple devices and most media players). Files are downloaded directly to your device using the browser's built-in download mechanism. No server upload is required and your recordings never leave your device unless you choose to share them.
All audio recording, processing and storage happens entirely within your browser using the Web Audio API and MediaRecorder API. Your voice and audio data is never uploaded to any server, never stored in any database and never shared with any third party. There is no account, no login and absolutely no registration required. Use this free online audio recorder unlimited times for any purpose.
Solutions for the most common microphone and recording issues found with this free online recorder.
Click the lock icon next to the URL in your browser and ensure microphone permission is set to Allow. On Chrome go to Settings then Privacy and Security then Site Settings then Microphone. Reconnect your USB or Bluetooth microphone and refresh the page. Check that your OS has not muted the microphone in system sound settings.
Check that the correct microphone is selected in the Microphone dropdown. Verify that your microphone is not muted at the hardware level (mute button on the mic or headset). On Windows open Sound settings and check that the input device is not muted and the input volume slider is not at zero. Speak loudly and watch the volume meter to confirm the microphone is picking up audio.
Disable Echo Cancellation in the settings if you are recording music or instruments rather than voice. Echo cancellation is designed to remove room reflections from voice calls but can degrade music recordings. Also try disabling Noise Suppression for music recording as it can remove high-frequency content that is important for instrument recordings.
Enable Noise Suppression in the recorder settings. Move your microphone further from fans, air conditioning vents and computer cooling systems. Use a directional microphone pointed at your mouth rather than an omnidirectional one. Record in a room with soft furnishings like curtains, carpets and cushions that absorb sound rather than in a bare room with hard reflective walls.
Increase microphone input gain in your operating system sound settings. On Windows right-click the speaker icon, open Sound, select the Recording tab, double-click your microphone, go to Levels and increase the microphone boost. On Mac go to System Settings, Sound, Input and increase the input volume slider. Move the microphone closer to your mouth. Check if the microphone has a physical gain knob.
Clipping occurs when the input signal exceeds the maximum level the recorder can handle. The volume meter will be consistently hitting 100 percent or the maximum end. Reduce the microphone input gain in your OS sound settings. Move the microphone further from your mouth. Speak more softly. Some USB microphones have a physical gain knob on the body that should be turned down.
Ensure the browser tab remains active and in focus during recording. Some browsers throttle or pause audio processing in background tabs. Keep the recorder tab in the foreground. On mobile devices ensure the screen stays on by adjusting screen timeout settings. Close other applications that may be competing for microphone access as only one application can use the microphone at a time on most systems.
If the download button does not trigger a file save, check that your browser has not blocked downloads from this page. In Chrome click the down arrow in the top right to see blocked downloads. On Safari downloads may go to the Downloads folder automatically. Try right-clicking the Play button on the audio player and using Save Audio As to manually save the recording to your desired location.
