Full browser-based mic test — no downloads, no sign-up, works on every device instantly.
Visit this page in any modern browser on any device — Windows, Mac, iPhone, Android, or Chromebook. Zero downloads or installations needed.
Hit the Start button. The tool automatically scans and lists all microphones connected to your device in the dropdown selector.
Your browser will ask for microphone access. Click Allow. All audio stays on your device — nothing is ever uploaded or stored remotely.
Talk normally and watch the frequency visualizer, volume meter, and peak level respond in real time. Confirm your microphone is picking up sound clearly.
The Microphone Health Report at the top shows signal strength, frequency quality, noise rating, and an overall mic score — your instant audio quality grade.
Toggle Record, speak a test phrase, then hit playback. Hear exactly how your microphone sounds — clarity, noise, echo, and volume level all in one.
More detailed than any other free microphone test tool available online.
Instantly detects all microphones connected to your computer or phone — built-in laptop mics, USB headsets, Bluetooth earbuds, webcam mics, gaming headsets, and professional audio interfaces. Filter by device type to find exactly the mic you want to test.
The live frequency visualizer shows which audio frequencies your mic is capturing — from deep bass (low end) to bright treble (high end). A healthy microphone shows balanced activity across the spectrum when you speak at normal volume.
The input level meter tracks your real-time volume percentage with a color-coded bar (green → yellow → red). The peak tracker records the highest signal level reached during your test, helping you identify if your mic is too quiet or causing clipping distortion.
Displays your microphone's sample rate (Hz), channel count (mono or stereo), and estimated latency (ms). These technical specs tell you whether your mic is operating at full quality or being limited by driver settings, Bluetooth compression, or USB bandwidth.
This free microphone test never records, uploads, or stores your audio. All processing happens inside your browser using the Web Audio API. No account, no email, no tracking. Your voice is analyzed locally and discarded the moment you stop — completely private.
The optional Record feature lets you capture a short audio clip and play it back instantly inside your browser. No files are saved to your computer automatically. This is the single best way to hear exactly how your microphone sounds to others on calls and meetings.
Full browser-based mic test — no extensions, no plugins, no Flash. Just open and test.
If your online mic test fails, these are the most common causes and fixes.
Click the Refresh button next to the device selector. If still missing, check that the mic is physically connected. On Windows, open Device Manager and look for disabled audio input devices.
Click the padlock icon in your browser address bar, set Microphone to Allow, and refresh the page. Chrome, Edge, and Firefox all require explicit permission for each website.
Your mic may be muted in Windows or macOS sound settings. Check system input volume is not at zero. On Windows, right-click the speaker icon → Sound Settings → Input and increase the mic level.
Enable Gain Boost ×2 in the test options above. Also check Windows microphone boost settings: Sound Settings → Microphone Properties → Levels → Microphone Boost (+10 to +30 dB).
Enable Echo Cancellation in the test options. If testing with speakers, use headphones instead to prevent the microphone from picking up speaker output. Also lower speaker volume during the test.
Go to Windows Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone. Make sure "Microphone access" is On, "Let apps access your microphone" is On, and "Let desktop apps access your microphone" is also On.
Bluetooth microphones often switch to lower quality HFP (Hands-Free Profile) mode when used as input. Ensure your Bluetooth headset is connected as both input and output. Wired USB headsets always offer better quality.
Open Device Manager, expand Sound, video and game controllers, right-click your audio device, and select Update driver. Outdated Realtek, IDT, or manufacturer drivers cause intermittent mic failures.
