Visit this free online mic test page from any browser on Windows, Mac, Android, or iOS — no download or installation required.
Click Start Mic Test. Your browser detects all connected microphones. Pick the one you plan to use in Microsoft Teams.
Grant microphone access when the browser asks. Your audio is processed locally — nothing is ever sent to any server.
Talk naturally and watch the live spectrum, volume meter, and signal bars update in real time. Confirm your mic is picking up your voice clearly.
The Teams Status panel shows mic detection, signal level grade, noise rating, and whether your mic passes for Microsoft Teams use.
Enable Record mode, say a few words, then play it back. Listen for clarity, background noise, echo, or distortion before your Teams meeting.
Avoid embarrassing audio problems in meetings, interviews, and online classes.
This free online microphone test checks if your mic is recognized, outputs a live audio signal, has adequate volume levels, passes noise and echo thresholds, and is fully compatible with Microsoft Teams audio requirements — all before your call starts.
Most Microsoft Teams microphone problems are caused by wrong input device selected in Teams settings, browser permission blocked, outdated audio drivers, too-low gain levels, or echo from speakers. This tool helps you diagnose all of these instantly — for free.
Works with every microphone supported by Microsoft Teams: built-in laptop mics, USB headsets (Jabra, Logitech, Poly, Plantronics), Bluetooth earbuds (AirPods, Galaxy Buds), webcam mics (Logitech C920, Brio), gaming headsets, and professional XLR audio interfaces.
This microphone test is 100% private. All audio processing happens inside your browser using the Web Audio API. No audio data is recorded, streamed, or stored on any server. No account needed, no registration, no personal information collected — ever.
Test your Teams microphone on Windows 10, Windows 11, macOS, Chromebook, iPhone, iPad, and Android phones. Compatible with Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Firefox, and Safari — no extensions or plugins needed.
Beyond basic mic detection, this tool provides real-time frequency spectrum visualization, peak level tracking, sample rate readout, channel count, estimated latency, and an overall Teams-readiness score — more detail than any other free online tool.
If your mic test shows a problem, follow these steps to fix it in Microsoft Teams.
In Microsoft Teams, go to Settings → Devices → Microphone. Select the same device that passed this mic test. Teams sometimes defaults to a wrong or virtual audio device.
If the test shows no signal, click the lock icon in your browser address bar and set Microphone to Allow. Then refresh and test again.
Outdated Realtek or audio drivers are a top cause of mic failures in Teams. Open Device Manager, expand Sound controllers, and update the driver for your microphone device.
Go to Windows Settings → Privacy → Microphone and make sure both app access and desktop app access are turned on. Teams requires this permission explicitly.
Right-click your microphone in Windows Sound settings → Properties → Advanced. Uncheck "Allow applications to take exclusive control." This prevents Teams and other apps from conflicting.
After confirming your mic works here, use the built-in Teams mic test: go to Settings → Devices → Make a test call. This verifies end-to-end audio through the Teams platform.
Enable Noise Suppression in this tool and in Teams Settings → Devices → Noise suppression. Teams offers Low, Standard, and High noise suppression modes for different environments.
Bluetooth mics can have latency and quality issues in Teams calls. A wired USB headset provides the most reliable and consistent audio quality for professional meetings.
