Audio & Microphone Data

This is the most important section of our Privacy Policy. Given the nature of our Service — a microphone testing tool — we want to be exceptionally clear about how audio data is handled.

🔒
Absolute Guarantee: Zero Audio Transmission
Your microphone audio never leaves your device. All audio processing is performed entirely within your browser's JavaScript environment using the Web Audio API. No audio samples, voice recordings, frequency data, volume readings, or any derivative of your audio signal is ever transmitted to our servers or any third party.

Here is precisely what happens when you grant microphone permission and run a test:

Browser capture: Your browser's getUserMedia() API captures your microphone stream directly from your OS audio driver. This stream stays within the browser tab.
Local analysis: The Web Audio API analyses the stream in real time for waveform, frequency, volume, and other metrics — all computed inside your browser's JavaScript sandbox.
Display only: Results are rendered visually on your screen. No data is sent over any network connection during or after this process.
Session destruction: All audio data is held only in your browser's temporary memory (RAM). It is permanently destroyed when you click Stop, navigate away, or close the tab.
Recording feature: If you use the in-browser recording feature, recordings are stored temporarily in your browser's local memory only and are cleared when you stop or leave. They are never uploaded.
Permission control: Microphone access is granted by you through your browser's explicit permission prompt. You may revoke this permission at any time via your browser settings without consequence to your privacy.
No voice profiling: We do not perform speaker identification, voice recognition, sentiment analysis, emotional profiling, or any other form of voice-based analysis on your audio.
No third-party audio SDKs: We do not use any third-party recording SDK, cloud speech API, or audio analytics service that would process or store your audio externally.
05

Legal compliance: To comply with applicable legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from public authorities
We do NOT use data for: targeted advertising, user profiling, data brokering, building marketing lists, or any commercial monetisation of user data

All third-party services are contractually required to process data only as instructed by us and in compliance with applicable privacy law.

08

Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with third parties for their own commercial purposes. The only circumstances under which we may disclose information are:

10

Data Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational security measures to protect the limited data we do collect against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

HTTPS encryption: All data in transit between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS (HTTPS). The Web Audio API requires a secure context (HTTPS) by browser specification.
Access controls: Access to any server-side data is restricted to authorised personnel only, with multi-factor authentication required.
Minimal data collection: Our most effective security measure is collecting as little data as possible. Data that doesn't exist cannot be breached.
Regular security reviews: We conduct periodic reviews of our data handling practices and security posture to identify and address potential vulnerabilities.

Despite our efforts, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach affecting your rights, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.

11

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. Our Service requires no account creation and collects no personal data, which significantly reduces privacy risks for younger users who may use the Site.

If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take immediate steps to delete that information from our records. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at info@mictestpro.com.

Users between the ages of 13 and 18 may use the Service with the knowledge and consent of a parent or legal guardian. We encourage parents to be involved in their children's online activities.

12

Your Rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal data. Because we collect minimal data and require no account, many of these rights are automatically satisfied by our privacy-first architecture.

Right of Access: You may request a copy of any personal data we hold about you. Given we collect no account data, the only data that may exist is anonymised analytics and any support emails you have sent us.
Right to Rectification: You may request correction of any inaccurate personal data we hold about you.
Right to Erasure: You may request deletion of personal data we hold about you, subject to our legal obligations to retain certain records.
Right to Object: You may object to our processing of your personal data where we rely on legitimate interests as the legal basis for processing.
Right to Data Portability: Where applicable, you may request that we provide your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Right to Withdraw Consent: Where we rely on your consent to process data, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@mictestpro.com. We will respond to all requests within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

13

International Users & GDPR

Our Service is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the Service from outside the United States — including from the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland — please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States.

For users in the EEA and UK, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides you with specific rights regarding your personal data. Our legal bases for processing the limited data we collect are:

Legitimate Interests (Article 6(1)(f)): Processing anonymised analytics and server logs to operate, improve, and secure the Service
Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): Where required, such as for non-essential cookies, we will obtain your explicit consent before processing
Legal Obligation (Article 6(1)(c)): Where processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation applicable to us

If you are in the EEA or UK and have concerns about our data practices, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. For UK users, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). For EEA users, this is your national data protection authority.

🌍
GDPR Compliance Note
Because we collect zero audio data and require no personal account, the vast majority of GDPR obligations simply do not apply to our core Service. Our privacy-by-design architecture is our primary compliance mechanism.
